Obaseki’s tour of Akoko Edo: Edo Speaker canvasses support for gov’t

The Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Kabiru Adjoto, has said the present administration’ Economic Blue Prints is geared towards harnessing the enormous potentials in the state for economic development.

Speaking to newsmen in Akoko-Edo after receiving Governor Godwin Obaseki who was on his last lap of thank you tour to Council Areas in Edo State, Rt. Hon. Adjoto said the governor has demonstrated his genuine commitment to place Edo State on the map of sustainable development.

A statement endorsed by the Special Adviser on Media & Publicity to the Speaker, Jacob Afenkhena, indicates that the Speaker expressed satisfaction over what he called people active participation in governance,

as the governor has created a conducive atmosphere for the party in power to exercise control of the administration instead of the Lord it all on the people which were aberration of military administration.

The Speaker said Akoko-Edo Local Government is a safe haven for solid minerals, and fertile land for the cultivation of cocoa, the famous Ososso Tourist Centre, Ojirami dam, which are vital to economic growth of the state if properly harnessed.

Rt. Hon. Adjoto said the governor’s thank you visit to the council area has helped to re-sharpen the political land scape, and economic fortunes of the people, as the cash rewards to the wards that had the highest votes during the gubernatorial election will rekindle the zeal and passion of the electorates in Akoko-Edo to work harder for APC.

The Speaker said Akoko-Edo remains the stronghold of APC, and with the defection of more than 3,000 members of PDP, into the APC during the governor’s visit, the foundations of PDP and other opposition party have been dismantled.

The Rt. Hon. Adjoto commended the governor, for given Akoko-Edo voice in his administration with the appointment of indigenes into political positions, and pledged their unwavering commitment to the policies and programmes of his administration.

The Speaker, who mobilised women, youths from the ten wards in Akoko-Edo to the ceremony, personally presented gifts to the governor and decorated him with the traditional clothes of Akoko-Edo extraction which signifies his acceptance as a bonafide indigene of Akoko-Edo.

The Rt. Hon. Adjoto assured that he will continue to provide worthy representation to the people just as he pledged the resolve of the House of Assembly to sustain the cordial relationship between the executive and the Legislative Arm to engender meaningful development.
