Obasanjo Targets 10,000 Lagos Residents for Free Medical Outreach at 89

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is targeting no fewer than 10,000 beneficiaries in Lagos suburbs as part of activities marking his 89th birthday.

In a statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, the outreach is being organised under the auspices of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation.

The Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Olalekan Makinde, said the Lagos Medical Mission would be held in Ikorodu and Alimosho Local Government Areas from February 27 to March 4.

Makinde said the mission aims to provide comprehensive, life-changing healthcare services free of charge to over 10,000 Nigerians.

He described the outreach as a legacy-driven humanitarian initiative reflecting Obasanjo’s lifelong commitment to service and nation-building.

According to him, the exercise will begin on Friday at the Ijede LCDA Council Hall, Ijede, Ikorodu, and continue on Saturday at the Imota Mini Stadium, Imota.

From March 2 to March 4, the programme will move to Alade Stadium, Command Road, Agbado/Oke-Odo in Alimosho.

Beneficiaries will receive free ear care services, hearing aids for qualified patients, detailed eye screening, prescription glasses and sponsorship for eye surgeries.

The mission will also provide free cardiovascular screening, blood pressure checks, heart health assessments, preventive counselling and distribution of essential medications at no cost.

Makinde said the outreach is open to the elderly, children and families, including individuals with untreated hearing or vision challenges, cardiovascular concerns and vulnerable residents across Lagos.
