An Inter-Religious Service marking the one year coronation anniversary of Omo N’Oba Ewuare II, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba of Benin, has taken place.

Addressing the gathering, Omo N’Oba Ewuare II identified prayer as the main substance and bedrock of the development of meaningful spiritual and physical life.

Omo N’Oba Ewuare II said there is every tendency that God will get much closer to a prayerful person, because, through prayer, people build a lasting partnership with God.

Addressing the congregation of Benin Christian and Muslim communities as well as traditional adherents in his palace, the Omo N’Oba appealed to the faithful not to relent in praying for the peace, unity and development of Edo State, and the nation.

The Omo N’Oba admonished that in prayers, people must open their hearts to God in such a way that will make God do that which pleases him rather than what pleases men.

Omo N’Oba Ewuare II stressed the need to recognise the fact that the cardinal duties of beings on earth is to love God and to trust him, because he is able to do his best for the glory of humanity.

He assured that when everything seems to be working in the opposite direction, God watches with extreme keenness, and we as beings can trust him to bring back the lost treasures and to restore the hopes that were dashed.

While expressing gratitude to the Christian and Muslim faithful for their unwavering support since his ascension to the throne a year ago, the Omo N’Oba thanked them for honouring his invitation to be part of the Inter-Religious Service of prayer of intercession.

In a goodwill message to the Oba, Bishop Oriname Oyonnude Kure, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Edo State, lauded the foresight of Omo N’Oba Ewuare II in stoppage of the unwholesome activities of land speculators, under the guise of Community Development Associations (CDA), whose activities brought a lot of pain and anguish to land developers.

While praying for God’s abundance blessings for Omo N’Oba Ewuare IIond, Bishop Oyennode Kure said Christians in Edo State are appreciative of the tremendous role of the Omo N’Oba in the measure of peace, tranquility and serenity presently being enjoyed in Edo State.

Highpoint of the spirituality charged atmosphere was the prayer section led by Chief David Edebiri, Esogban of Benin (representing the traditionalists);

Alhaji Fatai Enabulele, Chief Immah (representing Muslims); Rev. Felix Omobude, General Superintendent and President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria;

Most Senior Apostle Joshua Osasuyi, General Superintendent, Christ Apostolic Church; Rt. Rev. Margaret Benson-Idahosa, Archbishop, Church of God Mission International, amongst others.

They made a supplication to God to grant a river-like peace and awesome wisdom from heaven to the Omo N’Oba to successfully pilot affairs of the Kingdom.
