NYSC sanctions 25 corps members in Delta, rewards 36 others

No fewer than 25 serving corps members in Delta state have been sanctioned by the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for sundry offences, while 36 others were rewarded for their commitment to service.

Delta state NYSC Coordinator, Benjamin Omotade, who confirmed the sanctioning of the 25 corps members to newsmen in Asaba, said a total of 3, 080 corps members under the 2018 batch ‘A” category were admitted in the state, adding that three corps members bagged the NYSC governing council chairman award, while 30 others received the state coordinator’s commendation letter.

Omotade explained that the 25 corps members found wanting were punished in accordance with the bye – laws of the corps, disclosing that they were reprimanded with punishments ranging from two weeks’ extension of service to two months, adding that few cases of absconding recorded were forwarded to the national headquarters for repeat of their service year.

He however, advised the corps members to maintain good character as good ambassadors of Nigeria, noting that it was the only way they can contribute immensely to the nation building
