He appealed to them to utilise the opportunity of the orientation period to imbibe the spirit of teamwork and admonished them to be disciplined, study the needs of their host communities, and provide development projects that would ameliorate the suffering of their hosts.

Ibrahim also urged them to abide by the screening arrangements that were put in place in camp to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

“You must work hard in order to be rewarded at the end of the service year and ensure that you keep clean records and choose projects that will positively impact your host communities.

“Avoid unnecessary journeys and if it becomes necessary, get permission from the appropriate authority in NYSC before you travel. Avoid cybercrime, prostitution, drugs and ensure that that you keep clean records,” he said.

Ibrahim told the corps members to be patriotic, committed to duty and be law-abiding.

In a related development, NYSC Coordinator in the FCT, Hajia Walida Isa charged corps members to effectively participate in all camp activities, particularly the skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme, describing the programme as most reliable means of self-sufficiency and sustainability.

She cautioned the corps members on the need to be security conscious at all times even as she assured the corps members that their welfare and security would receive the most paramount attention from the management.

“May I sound a note of warning against indecent dressing on camp. You are not permitted to deface the NYSC uniform except for minor adjustments that might be absolutely necessary. Such attitude constitutes a blatant violation of the NYSC dress code, punishable by the provisions of the NYSC Bye-Iaw.”
Furthermore, she called on all corporate agencies, multi-nationals and patriotic individuals and groups within the FCT to support the NYSC Scheme, to help build the capacity of the youth for the rapid development and socio economic prosperity of the nation.
Daily  Times reports that a total number of 2,323 corps members has been registered on camp; comprising of 1,038 males and 1,285 females.
