NUJ FCT Council felicitates with members at Christmas

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, FCT Council extends warm greetings to its members, celebrating the Christmas season, which commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the Secretary of the Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, the union wished all its members a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2025 in advance, urging members to use the occasion to renew their commitment to God’s work and pray fervently for the union, especially in light of the recent untimely deaths that have afflicted the council.
Recall that Mrs Rafat Salami, Deputy Director News, with the Voice of Nigeria, VoN passed on, few days before Christmas and Prophetess Ogonnaya Umeham of the City Post who also, passed on few days ago
The statement reads: “The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, FCT Council extends heartfelt felicitations to its members in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
“We urge you to embrace the lessons of Christmas to promote peace, unity, and development of journalism profession and the nation at large.

“We should also, remember to pray for our late colleagues for God to recieve their souls and put an end to the untimely deaths that have plagued our council on recent times.
“Christmas is a time of love and reflection, reminding us of the exemplary life of Jesus Christ, who taught us to touch lives positively as recorded in the Holy Bible. On this special day, let us reach out in our little ways to put smiles on others’ faces.
“This season offers a perfect opportunity to reflect on the blessings of life and express gratitude for being alive, despite the economic challenges we face as a nation.”
The statement highlighted that Christmas symbolizes sacrifice, love, and dedication, urging members to embody these virtues and chart a path toward prosperous union as they celebrate with their families and friends.
“May this Christmas bring you and your loved ones peace, joy, and happiness. Let us celebrate the spirit of giving, kindness, and togetherness that defines this season. We encourage you to take this time to relax, recharge, and enjoy the company of your loved ones.
“We assure all members that the NUJ FCT Council will continue to prioritize their welfare and interests, ensuring that no one is left behind,” the statement added.
