NRC donates N40m office structure to railway police

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has donated a N40 million Police Station to railway police in Apapa area of Lagos.
The donated Police station near Bola Ahmed Tinubu Railway terminal, Apapa, was in line with global best practice of protecting passengers and properties along the railway corridor.
Speaking during the handover ceremony of the edifice by managing director of Nigerian Railway Property Company Limited, Engr. Timothy Zalanga to the managing director of NRC, Engr. Fidet Okhiria, the latter said, construction of the police station was in line with the directive of the former minister of transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi who directed that a station and spacious car park should be built in place of the demolished and relocated warehouse and police station.
He noted that, the police station will provide a conducive environment to enable the Nigerian Railway Policemen perform their functions of safeguarding lives and properties for passengers in and out of the trains.

Okhiria posited that the office complex is expected to provide incentive to motivate policemen posted to the corporation to protect passengers on board the trains as well as along the railway corridors.
He also pointed out that provision of security is key to the success of Nigerian Railway Corporation, adding that, the police deserve a befitting station.
Managing director of Nigerian Railway Property Company Limited, Engr. Timothy Zalanga said, the station was built in line with the directive of former minister of transportation that a spacious car park be built alongside the police station while the warehouse on the land should be demolished and relocated.
The contractor of the building, Mr. James Iris said, the edifice boasts of 4 offices,, 2 cells armory built with hard core concrete and toilets.
