We are not aware of Makarfi’s presidential ambition -PDP

…..Insist Kashamu must face justice
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied any knowledge of plans by its National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi to contest the 2019 presidential election, saying that the time was not ripe for people to start showing such interest.
Speaking during a media chat at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye said, “As for the issue of whether Sen. Makarfi has presidential ambition or not, we are not aware of that.
The national caretaker committee is not aware of that and we have not opened the flood gate for people to begin to aspire for position of the president. INEC has not even released timetable.
“I don’t know if they have released any timetable for the presidential election.
We in the PDP are concerned now in putting in place a new leadership for the party which we hope will come up or emerge latest by December 9 or 10.
That is our preoccupation at the national caretaker committee,” he said.
The party also spoke on issues relating to the senator representing Ogun East senatorial district of Ogun state, Kashamu Buruji who it accused of causing bad blood in the party and subjecting it to endless litigation, but assured that he will soon face justice.
The party’s spokes person said that the party lost Edo and Ondo elections due to his undemocratic activities, adding that he equally obtained an injunction to prevent anybody from probing his activities both the present and the past as well as possible extradition by law enforcement agencies.
“Here, we need to remind PDP members and Nigerians that it was Sen Kashamu and those he was bankrolling that conducted parallel congresses in Edo and Ondo states.
They did not stop there, but took us up to Supreme Court and in the end openly endorsed and campaigned for our opponents, Their actions made us loose the elections.
“The public should however recall we neither conducted parallel congress in the Osun Senatorial bye-election nor did we campaign for our opponents, we rather directed everybody to work for the party’s nominee and he won. You can clearly see who have been undermining the party’s chances at elections.
“The party will take a decision at the appropriate time on Sen. Kashamu. It may take long, but justice will be done” Adeyeye stated.
His attention was also drawn to the fact that Anambra aspirants just like the National Chairmanship aspirants signed peace treaty and later abandoned the party when they lost at the primary.
“People sign peace accord, We have no way to enforce it. If they flaunted it there is nothing we can do. It is a matter that we will continue to revisit from time to time” he explained.
