NO PDP CANDIDATE IN ANAMBRA- UBA
Self-styled Anambra political godfather Chief Chris Uba has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has no National and State Assembly Candidates and warned Independent Electoral Commission(INEC) not to declare any candidate from the party a winner.
Ubah who disclosed this to reporters in Awka contended that there is a pending suit at the Supreme Court over who are the Candidates of the party in the area.
Uba said that INEC would err if any of the PDP candidates was declared winner until the determination of the pending cases at the courts.
Briefing reporters yesterday in Awka after the election on Saturday, Uba said no PDP candidate could claim victory until the court verdict.
Uba and his PDP other candidates had gone to the supreme court praying for an order of injunction, restraining INEC from issuing any certificate of return to any candidate of PDP for the 2015 National Assembly election in Anambra State, pending the determination of the suit fixed for hearing on the 9th of June.
“An order of this honourable court directing the 2nd respondent to stay all actions concerning and relating to the return of any candidate as the duly elected candidate of the 1st respondent for the 2015 National Assembly election in Anambra State pending the determination of the appellants/applicants appeal before this honourable court”
Furthermore, Uba said that the removal of names of PDP candidates on the ballot paper by INEC was illegal, adding that nobody should be issued certificate of return in Anambra PDP.
He said all of them came back to the state to vote PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan.
Uba, who is also a board of Trustees (BOT) member, said they were happy with what happened during the election but regretted the failure of card readers.
According to him, “for now PDP has no candidate in the election, people voted for the party and not candidates” Uba said.
