No one “ll regret my coming to APC – Gov Mutfwang
The Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has said his coming to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), will not be regretted by anyone, especially those who think his defection will disorganise the APC party organ in the State.
The Governor said the change in political party was purely the act of God whose mandate from the beginning was to bless everyone in Plateau irrespective of political affiliation.
Mutfwang stated this on Friday in Jos during a brief ceremony where he was handed the membership card of the party.
Recall that Mutfwang formally resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday.
His defection has marked a major shift in the state’s political alignment.
However, speaking to APC stakeholders, Mutfwang said: “My decision to defect was driven by the need for purposeful leadership and clarity of direction, as well as the desire to align Plateau State more closely with the policies and programmes of the federal government to accelerate development and improve service delivery.
Our correspondent reports that Mutfwang’s defection comes about two weeks after the national Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, announced that the Governor had joined the ruling party.
“With the defection of Governor Mutfwang, the entire North-central region is now governed by the APC,” Mr Yilwatda said at the meeting, describing the development as a strategic gain for the ruling party.
Our correspondent reports that Mutfwang’s resignation letter was addressed to the ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area.
The Governor, who was elected on the PDP platform in 2023, thanked the party for the opportunity it gave him and the support of its members over the years.
