‘No Enyeama contact for Rohr’

Gernot Rohr has not had any recent contact with Vincent Enyeama over a return to Nigeria’s national team, according to a Super Eagles official.

There have been suggestions in Nigerian media that the coach has recently opened a line of communication with the veteran goalkeeper.

Rohr was in contact with the player head of last year’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria due to an injury to first-choice ‘keeper Carl Ikeme.

However, an unnamed Super Eagles team official has revealed that the German tactician has not spoken to Enyeama since last October.

“There is nothing like this except of course in the media because the last time Rohr spoke to Enyeama was in October,” said the official.

“The goalkeeper trainer Alloy Agu has assured us he has enough capable hands in the absence of Carl Ikeme.

“Besides Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa, we also have Alampasu and Emmanuel Daniel.

“So, we are very much covered in that department.”

Enyeama retired from international football in 2015 after a break-down in his relationship with then-coach Sunday Oliseh.
