NNPP Dissociates Self From January 20 Planned Protest, Calls Promoters Impostors
The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, has dissociated itself from the planned January 20 protest against the Independent National Electoral Commission by some acclaimed members of the party, describing the action as illegal.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bamofin Ladipo Johnson, speaking with journalists in Abuja on Monday, maintained that the party is not aware of any protest march against INEC, in any form.
He said: “Our attention has been drawn to reports that our party, NNPP, intends to stage a protest march against the INEC on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the INEC premises in Abuja and, States of the Federation.
“We wish to use this medium to dissociate the party from the illegal demonstration, called by an illegal body claiming to be speaking on behalf of the party.
“These persons behind this illegal protest are not members of the Party as established by the Federal High Court in Suit Number FHC/ABJ/CS/1354/2024 of April 18th, 2024, where Justice Emeka Nwite affirmed that they have ceased to be members of the Party following their expulsion by the appropriate Organs of the Party.
“Up till this moment, they have not appealed the judgment, instead, engage in forum shopping, looking for Orders that have no foundations in law.
“As it is their trademark, they go to the Courts hiding facts of the matter, and once the Courts hear the correct story, they will discard them like pack of cards.
“NNPP wishes to reiterate that it is not involved in any protest slated for Tuesday, January 20, 2026, and to state categorically that the persons behind the protest are impostors.
“NNPP therefore, use this medium to call on members to remain calm even in the face of provocations by elements, aimed at distracting the Party from its stated objectives,” Johnson added.
