Nnamadi Sambo, Ikimi, Dogara others screen PDP Presidential aspirants

Former Vice President, Nnamadi Sambo, Speaker House of Representatives and Chief Tom Ikimi among others will today screen the 12 presidential aspirants contesting for the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party’s Wadata Plaza national secretariat, Abuja.

The Presidential screening committee has Sambo as its chairman and Mr. Emmanuel Udom, Governor of Akwa Ibom as secretary.

Other members of the committee are Dr. Okwesileze Nwodo, Dr. Iyorcha Ayu, Hajiya Marian Ciroma, Dr (Mrs) Kema Chikwe, Dr. Haliru Bello and Chief Ebenezer Babatope.

Aspirants that have returned their nomination form and qualified for screening are: former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido; former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa; former governor of Plateau State,

Senator Jonah Jang, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, former Senate President, David Mark; incumbent Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Baze University proprietor, Dr. Datti Baba Ahmed; Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Damkwanbo; Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal and Stanley Osifo.

The party also created avenue for any aspirant to express his disagreement with the outcome of the screening committee exercise by constituting an appeal panel to be headed by party National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and National Secretary, Senator Umaru Tsauri as Secretary.

The appeal panel will sit on Wednesday, September 26 at the party’s presidential campaign office, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja.

Other members of the panel are remaining members of the National Working Committee (NWC), Prof. A.B.C. Nwosu, Dr. Peter Odili, Amb. Polycap Azige, Hajiya Zainab Maina and Mustapha Yar’Adua.
