NMA to shut down medical services in C/River

The Cross River State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has threatened to withdraw medical services in the state over the incessant kidnap of members of the association.
This is contained in a communiqué jointly signed by the state Chairman, Dr Agam Ayuk, and the Secretary, Dr Ezoke Epoke after an Emergency General Meeting of the Association held on Tuesday in Calabar.
The association of medical practitioners stated that the decision to down their tools became necessary due to the increasing cases of kidnapping on its members in the state.
The threat is coming on the heels of kidnapping of wife one of the practitioners on August 15 and subsequently released on August 16 this year.
According to the communiqué, “The recent kidnap of the spouse of a medical doctor is the second incident of doctors targeted kidnap in Cross River in the past one month.
