NLC Sets up Committee to Reconcile Aggrieved Unions

Following issues that arose from the recently concluded elections of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), which led to the splitting of the body, its leadership, on Tuesday, set up a committee to reconcile the aggrieved unions.

The eight-man committee, headed by Comrade Aliyu Dangiwa, was given two weeks to bring together the breakaway unions that rejected the results of the delegates’ election, which produced Ayuba Wabba as the president, for the purpose of peace and unity in the labour movement.

While inaugurating the committee in Abuja on Wednesday, Wabba said the ultimatum given to the committee for the reconciliation could be extended, depending on the progress made. He urged the members of the committee to use their wealth of experience to restore the dignity of the labour union.
