NLC Chairman urges Obiano to increase workers salary.

Anambra chapter chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Jerry Nnubia has urged the state governor, Willie Obiano to make good his promises of increasing the salaries of
workers in the state.
He lamented that workers in the state were the least paid in the country.
The governor, had during the 2017 workers’ day, promised an upward an upward review of the workers’ wages in the state in 2018.
Speaking after a meeting of Civil Society -Media, Nigeria Engagement on the proposed amendment of Nigeria constitution as it concerns the local government administration, Nnubia advised the governor to use the last trench of the Paris club fund disbursement to settle arrears of local government gratuity of workers.
He described local government system as the hallmark of development of any society, as well as training ground for civil servants and youth empowerment.
Nubia who is also chairman of state NULGE, however maintained that for the local government to continue to remain relevant, it should be granted full autonomy, insisting that the NLC would not rest on its oars until its independence is realized.
Nubia described as unfortunate the suffering residents are facing on the current increase of petrol pump price, occasioned by scarcity of the products, hinting that plans were on to mobilize mass action.
