What Nkem Owoh told me about Gov. Ikpeazu – Media aide

Recently, the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) held a solidarity rally for Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, and later honoured him with an award.

A veteran actor, Nkem Owoh (Osuofia) was in the state to anchor the programme.

Gabriel Aguwa Paul is a Special Assistant (Media) to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and in meeting with the humorous actor, narrated to Abia Times in Umuahia how he felt.

“15 years ago, during a P Collins Production movie set, I met African’s finest and all-time most expensive actor, Nkem Owoh popularly known as Osuofia.

“I cannot remember my character name in that movie, Akirika, which we shot around Ugwuaji Awkunanaw in Enugu State, but I still remember vividly, the nickname, “Cable” Nkem Owoh gave to me on that set.

“That name became what he chooses to call me every time and everywhere we meet.

“Osuofia has a wonderful retentive memory, as he is the only actor I can remember that calls an actor he has acted with the name the character was called in a movie in real life.

“How he does that, I don’t know because he has acted with over 3000 actors and he calls each by his or her character name.

“So when we met at the International Conference Center, ICC Umuahia, where he came to anchor the Abia State NULGE solidarity rally for Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, Osuofia was so elated to see me and shouted “Cable my boy, long time no see…what are you doing in Umuahia… ?”.
“And when this movie comic actor Nkem Owoh got to know that I work with Governor Ikpeazu, he said, “Wow! What a privilege? You are so fortunate, Dr. Ikpeazu is a good man and he is humane and kind…”

“Well, Osuofia’s impression of my Governor is just a fraction of who Dr. Ikpeazu is.

“Dr. Ikpeazu is a selfless leader that has the interest of his people above his. I can categorically state this because in the last 20 months plus, the Governor has been at the helm of affairs in Abia State and it takes only a man with the interest of his people, a man that listens to his people to know where it affects them most, to turn things around like he is doing.
