Nineteen students receive scholarship in Anambra

Nineteen students from different institutions in the country have been awarded scholarship by the Onyebuchi Chris Ifediora (OCI) Foundation in Anambra State.

The President of the foundation, Dr. Onyebuchi Ifediora, made the disclosure on Thursday in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Awka.

According to the statement, 15 of the benefitting students are in various secondary schools while four others are undergraduates in higher institutions.

The OCI president said the foundation currently focuses on beneficiaries from Anambra East Local Government Area in particular but will expand its horizon to cover other parts of the state and country in due course.

Ifediora said the four undergraduates, who met the criteria, will receive renewable annual financial support of N50, 000 each under the Cyfed undergraduate scholarship initiative of the foundation.

The foundation said it awarded expense-free WAEC examinations scholarship to the 15 junior and senior secondary school students under its Ifedioramma Okafor Memorial Secondary School Academic (IFOMSSA) initiative.

The entire programme is designed to encourage economically disadvantaged Nigerian youths to complete their education to postgraduate studies and thereafter, join the Nigerian workforce as nation builders.

It is designed to educate and develop the next generation of leaders, who will contribute to the social and economic progress of the country.

Our vision entails supporting the next generation of leaders with sound educational background and leadership prospects, so that they can contribute and give back to the society later in life,” Ifediora said.

He assured that the scholarship scheme will be annual programme for indigent students and will continue to support government’s effort in promoting the education sector.
