Nigeria’S Importation of US LPG Rises in 2014
Nigeria, being the Africa’s top oil producer and largest holder of natural gas reserves on the continent imported 764,000 barrels of Liquefied Petroleum Gas,(LPG) from the United States in 2014, the first time since 2010, according to the Energy Information Administration, (EIA).
Data obtained from the EIA, the statistical arm of US Department of Energy, revealed that Nigeria imported 140,000 barrels of LPG otherwise known as cooking gas in 2010. It is only in 2011, 2012 and 2013 the country did not import a barrel from the US.
The genesis of biggest annual import of US LPG by Nigeria occurred following the US low import of Nigerian crude oil and subsequent growth in US shale oil production.

It cited other petroleum products Nigeria imports from the US to include kerosene, Premium motor spirit, jet fuel, fuel ethanol and lubricants.
