Nigerians will reject APC in 2027, PDP Governors’ Forum declares

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has said Nigerians will reject the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who chairs the Forum, made the declaration in a communiqué issued on Saturday after the governors’ meeting in Gusau, Zamfara State.

The Forum urged members to resist what it described as attempts by anti-party forces to derail the PDP’s National Convention scheduled for November 15, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

It described the convention as a critical step toward repositioning the PDP as a viable alternative to the APC.

In its communiqué, the Forum said it had deliberated on pressing national issues, including security, democratic governance, and preparations for the party’s convention.

The governors commended PDP members and supporters nationwide for their loyalty despite what they alleged were “intimidation and anti-democratic practices” by the APC-led Federal Government.

“We commend the resilience of our leaders and members in overcoming orchestrated defections.

“Such distractions cannot diminish our party’s strong grassroots appeal or the growing public yearning for the return of affordable living and relative security experienced under PDP-led administrations,” the communiqué stated.

It urged members to remain steadfast in the face of what it called increasing intimidation from the ruling party.

“This sad situation should only be seen as the sign of the desperation of a political party with no agenda, no vision, and doomed to face inevitable rejection by the masses,” it added.

Reaffirming its commitment to the resolutions of the PDP’s 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in July 2025, the Forum insisted that the November convention must hold as planned.

“The PDP remains the only democratic institution and viable alternative for restoring Nigeria along the path of good governance and national development,” it said, calling on Nigerians to be vigilant in protecting their votes.
