Nigerian politicians are greedy- PDP chieftain

Edem Bassey, Calabar
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Cross River State, Mr. Chris Agara, has opined that politicians in the country are greedy and urged politicians elected into offices to avoid the temptation of clinging unto power even when their services are no longer needed by those who elected them into office.
Mr. Agara who lamented that a situation where some politicians after serving in one position for eight years would contest for another office instead of giving others a chance to serve their people is an act of greed which should be done away with.
“Devolution of power is not only in decentralising power from the central to the federating units but also among the politicians who should give up power after they have served their term because I see some people out of greed go ahead to impose themselves on the people by contesting for another office even when those who elected them no longer want them”.
He said Nigerians have become more enlightened and functional politically are conscious who is serving their interest and those who are not therefore in 2019 those who are clinging unto power would be voted out by the people.
“Greed is responsible for all these and resulted to current agitation by the people who are clamouring for an active government because some politicians after serving as a governor would contest election into the Senate thereby denying others the opportunity to also serve their people but I can bet you that in 2019, that would not work”
Agara who is a political associate of the Cross River State governor, Senator Ben Ayade commended the governor for his effort in providing jobs through political appointments which he said has ripple effect on the economy of the state.
“I am not just impressed but extremely impressed with the efforts of Governor Ayade in infrastructural development and job creation under the prevailing circumstances because he inherited a lot of debts and the paucity of funds available to the state, compared to his predecessors, he has done very well.”
He said he would make a pronouncement at appropriate time on speculations that he would throw his hat into the ring by contesting for the post of Senator to represent the central senatorial district in 2019.
