Nigerian Army’s redeployment: new GOC takes over 81 Division

Following the recent redeployment of senior officers in the Nigerian Army, Major-General Peter Dauke has handed over the mantle of leadership of 81 Division to Major- General Enobong Udoh.

During the handing over cum taking over ceremony which held at thel Division’s Headquarters in Lagos on Friday, the Out-Going General Officer Commanding (GOC), Dauke said inspite of the challenges associated with his tenure, some remarkable successes could also be seen; this he attributed to the support and cooperation of the Officers and soldiers of the Division.

In his remark, he said. ” I appreciate the Soldiers and the Officers of the Division for their cooperation during my tenure. Most importantly, the role each and every one of us played in the just concluded Exercise Crocodile Smile II. It is for your cooperation and understanding we were able to deal with the various security challenges confronting the Division and in general Nigeria. We have surmounted the threats in our areas of responsibility, although it was not easy but we tried to understand each other which led to success.

” Today I make boast to say that the discipline of the Division from when I took over has improved. I therefore urge you to do everything to take it to the next level. ”

While addressing the Officers and Soldiers on a final note, Dauke encouraged them to extend the same hand of support they had given him to the new GOC.

He said, ” As I will be leaving for National Defence College, I urge you to extend similar hands of fellowship, cooperation and understanding you gave me to the new GOC because I have no doubt of his capacity.”

The new GOC, Major-General Udoh who was redeployed form 6 Division Port-Harcourt said his tenure will do its best to uphold professionalism.

He said, ” I thank God Almighty for another opportunity to serve in this capacity. I also thank the Chief of Army Staff who found me worthy again. To whom much is given, much is expected. I also believe in work and professionalism.

Some of the projects carried out by Dauke in his tenure are said to include: 20 blocks of Soldiers Quarter renovated by Alhaji Aliko Dangote at Ikeja Cantonment, an Ultra modern multi-purpose hall built at Ikeja cantonment, the reconstruction of the chief of Army staff Guest House at Takwabay which was commissioned by the COAS during the operation Crocodile Smile II.

He had also renovated an office block at 65 battalion and donated new sets of class room chairs at NAOWA Nur/Pri school at 174 Batallion amongst others.

Duake is expected to resume duty as the Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies at the National Defence College in Abuja.

Recall that the Army authority had on December 29th 2017 released mos redeployment takes effect from 2nd January 2018.

A statement announcing the development read: “The Nigerian Army has today Friday 29th December 2017, …. years of service in the Army. The posting is also aimed at injecting new hands to further actualize the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TY Buratai, which is “to have a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its Constitutional roles”.
