‘Nigeria risks underdeveloped over raw materials’ export

The Director General of the Federal Industrial Research, FIIRO, Oshodi , Lagos, Professor Gloria Elemo has decried the continuous exportation of raw materials to foreign countries.
Elemo, who spoke at the inauguration you of newly 64 inductees into the Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering, said that such step, if unchecked, could under develop the country.
She stated that the country might remain underdeveloped until the country start to export finished products. She assured the technologists of FIIRO support; and urged members of the association to continue to perform well in their places of work.
The FIIRO boss commended the association over the fabrication of rice machines last year. In his remarks, the General Manager of Bond FM, Ikeja, Engineer Bamidele Dada advised young technologists to always seek for knowledge and conduct more research in their places of establishment.
Dada described the rice fabricated machine by the association as a milestone achievement. He said that most of the materials being used by Bond FM for developmental work today are locally sourced.
Earlier, a former National Secretary of the Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering, Engineer Samuel Oliyide stated that level of development of a country would depend on level of its technological development.
He said that the country is at its present level of development due to neglect of technology. Engineer Oliyide charged the government at all levels to make more funds available for research in the country
