Niger PDP backs P/Harcourt convention

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Niger State, has thrown its weight behind the decisions taken at the National Convention of the party, which took place in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital last weekend.

The State Chairman of the party, Barrister Tanko Beji, also said that the PDP in the state supported the composition of the Caretaker Committee headed by the former Kaduna State governor, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi.

He said that the PDP in the state would give the committee it unalloyed support.

Beji told journalists, in Minna, on Tuesday, that the Niger State PDP believed that the Port Harcourt convention was properly constituted and was conducted in line with the constitution of the party.

“We are of the firm opinion that the decisions taken at the convention will not only revive our party, but reposition it to properly play its role as the main opposition political party in Nigeria and prepare us for the task of wresting power from the misrule of the All Progressive Congress APC in 2019.”
