Niger Guber: Market men, women picks forms for incumbent
Market men and women across 25 Local Governments in Niger State on Friday stormed the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja to purchase nomination form and expression of interest for the incumbent governor of the State.
The association of traders in the State, led by their chairman, Alhaji Saidu Asheda who addressed newsmen through their spokesperson, Ahmed Salihu after buying the form stated that they decided to do that because of the present performance of Governor Sani Bello.
According to Salihu, “In the history of Niger state, this is the first time that Market Association decided to pick nomination and expression of interest forms for any aspirant in the state.
”As chairman of the Niger state market association, Alhaji Saidu Achida and other stakeholders in the market, we this because the governor has achieved a lot not only for market people but to the entire Niger people especially fixing all the roads in the market.
“He also provided three 500 KVA electricity generator to the market. He did this because he wants to discourage the use of small power generating sets in the market in order avoid fire disaster.
So, for these reasons, the market people decided to come together to do this for him. We are here on his behalf without even his knowledge. After here we are going back to the state present it to the governor as a big surprise.
“If the market association has the financial means, it would have first purchased the form for President Muhammadu Buhari for what he has done to enable him complete the good work he started.
Speaking on how the IGR of the State has increased, Salihu disclosed that improvement in market activities in the State has made it possible saying, “Under governor Bello’s administration, the state IGR has improved just as commercial activities have risen”, he said.
In a related development, 12 members of Sokoto State House of Assembly who refused to join former Speaker House of representatives, Aminu Tambuwal to defect to the erstwhile ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) also disclosed on Friday that they contributed a sum of N22.5m to purchase forms for Faruok Yabo Malami, the governorship aspirant under the party platform.
A member of the delegation, Sani Alhaji Yakubu disclosed to journalists that they are ready to dislodge the present Government led by Aminu Tambuwal.
The lawmakers insisted that the APC will take over power in the State in the 2019 general elections noting that, “As you can see, we have all contributed a total sum of 22 million, 500 thousand Naira to obtain form for Malami.
“We decided to contribute our hard-earned salaries to purchase this forms for the gentleman because we find it imperative”, he said.
