Niger awards road contracts worth N1.6bn amidst COVID-19


Despite the economic downturn as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the Niger state Executive Council has approved the dualization of a 2.4 kilometer road at a cost of N1.6billion.
The contract from Tunga Roundabout to Imani Junction is to be completed within 18 months.
Commissioner for Works, Ibrahim Panti, who made this known yesterday at Government House, Minna, said it was part of the decisions reached at the Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday.
The commissioner while briefing the press after the state executive council meeting, stated that the council also considered and apprrroveed other memorandum presented to the council.
He stated that the counciil also approved the contract of six roads in Kontagora at the cost of over N300 million, adding to the existing contracts of over N700 million bringing ongoing in the town.
Panti however, added that the state government is considering the renovation of the state secretariat complex and is awaiting the submission of the bill of quantity in respect of the renovation.
