Niger Assembly Passes Finances Control Bill
In an effort to instil financial discipline and accountability in the management of public funds in Niger state, the Niger State House of Assembly on Wednesday passed into law, public finances control and management bill 2015.
This followed clause by clause consideration of report of house committee on finance and appropriation that carried out legislative activity on the bill.
In his remarks after the passage of the bill, Speaker Barr. Adamu Usman spoke on the significance of the new law, adding that it was in line with the international best practice in the accounting system.
He explained that accountability and transparency should always be the guiding principle of any democratic governance, saying that the bill was unanimously passed to allow for acceptable accounting system in the state.
