Ngige Declines to Cast Votes

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial candidate for Anambra South Senatorial zone, Senator Chris Ngige, yesterday declined to cast his votes at his ward, Ureside ward Alor in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Ngige who at about 3.45 pm said that he cannot cast his vote manually, because it negates the Electoral guidelines, which stipulates that voters must be accredited manually.
Ngige also said that his rejection was in line with the position of his party that they will not accept any result that came out from manual voting.
He said that before using the manual voting, the electoral officials suppose to announce to all the voters, count them, ink their thumbs and the police will stand at the back of the last voter, to avoid over-voting.
Ngige however, said that when the card reader card failed, he called the Anambra Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Edwin Nwatalari, who directed that they should go manual, but the APC chieftain insisted that even if the card reader failed, the election should be shifted to the next day before resorting to the use of manual.
He said President Jonathan has no right to order for the use of manual voting, which amounted to going back to the old way of voting as against the new guidelines for this election.
