NFF sticks with LMC final NPFL table … Says CAF, FIFA were consulted

By Oma Akatugba

The Nigeria Football Federation has sanctioned the NPFL table by the League Management Company as it said it is final.

NFF revealed in a virtual meeting held at the instance of the President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick that the LMC table has been ratified and was found most appropriate even by CAF and FIFA.

Rivers United have been complaining of being cheated to a place in the CAF Champions League but the NFF has said the Points-pergame system adopted is the generally and statutorily accepted standard.

Majority of the teams in the NPFL voted to end the league as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, the NFF said, with 18 clubs voting to end the league while 2 clubs voted against it.

The football federation said it has no right to upturn the decision of the LMC except where it finds that the rules have not been followed.

The NFF also advised the LMC to avoid the postponement of games as that will affect the smooth running of the league.
