New Year eve robbers arrested in Kogi

Kogi state Police command on Tuesday paraded five persons suspected to be armed robbers who invaded the home of a couple in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital during the yelutide.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Kogi state. ASP William Aya, who made this known, also said the suspects were said to have invaded the house of the couple on the 28 of December at about 02.am while the couple and their children were fast asleep.

The victim Chris Edime who narrated his ordeal to newsmen at the police Headquarters in Lokoja said that he was woken up by the strange sound of the robbers who gained entrance into the children’s room and started ransacking the house.

Edime explained that the suspects ordered him and members of his family to lie face down, while two of them entered the kitchen and removed food, while two others drove to the ATM to empty his account as they were held hostage.

He said that the robbers carted away valuables including food items pointing out that he was yet to ascertain how much loss he has incurred, as he is still discovering lost items on daily basis.

The state Police Public Relations officer, William Aya an Assistant Superintend of Police said that on the 28th December 2017, at about 0200hours,one Engineer Chris Edime,’m’ of Naval Quarters Area,Lokongoma Phase ll,Lokoja reported that unknown gunmen invaded his house, dispossessed him of his infinity G35X Salon Car with registration no GWA67JS,his ATM card and other house hold appliances.”

He said that on the strength of this information, the state Directorate of State Security Services, DSS, Lokoja synergised operatives of the command swung into action in a bid to track the perpetrators and in the process arrested the suspects.

Those arrested and paraded are , 27 year old Mohammed Kabiru,26 years old Musa Mohammed, 26 years old Emmanuel Audu and 28 years old Yale Yunusa all males.

Items recovered from them according the police included, one LG plasma TV one Home theatre electronic, Bag of rice, one single barrel gun, 12 assorted handsets and various degrees of charms.

“Further investigation led to the arrest of one Mohammed Ibrahim of Lagos from whom infinity G35X saloon car was recovered.” Aya said.
