Nestle, NNPC, others donate to Kano COVID-19 fund

Strong-willed individuals and corporate organisations have continued to make donations in cash and kind to the Kano state Fund Raising Committee on COVID-19 to assist mitigate the effects of the pandemic.

The state Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba and member of the committee, announced in a statement that the latest donors include Nestle Nigeria Plc which donated products worth N32 million

The products include 1,436 golden morn, 157 of 20g Milo, 64 milo cartons, 2,692 maggi cubes, 387 maggi and 785 maggi.

He gave the list of other donors/donations as follows, the NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture, the Light Charitable Group, Alhaji Ahmad Rabi’u, Alhaji Imran Sabo (Al-Wabel), Ustaz Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan, Muhammad Abba and Dr. Yakubu Kachako.

Cash donations came from the secretary to the Kano state government, head of service, 37 permanent secretaries, state auditor- general and chief registrar.

Others are Henry Enterprises, Kano state Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Alhaji Ibrahim Karaye, Alhaji Tasiu Maitangaran and Usman International Schools.

Malam Garba appealed to organizations and wealthy individuals within and outside the state to donate generously to the committee set up to seek and collect donations in cash or kind and distribute same to those in need so as to cushion the harsh effects of COVID-19.

The statement stated that anyone willing to donate to the committee in cash should pay/or make transfers to the Kano state COVID-19 support, UBA, Account No: 1022751785, while donations in kind are also collected at a warehouse at number 94, Maganda Road and Kano state Government Printing Press, Emir’s Palace.
