NDLEA: Drug lab found in VGC

Reports reaching us states that a new Drug Lab was found in VGC.

According to a press statement that was issued on July 30, 2022, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) discovered a string operation in K-5A/2, road 14, based on information collection, at around 15:00 hours.

The state government will seal the property after arresting Mr. and Mrs. Emeka Nzewi and their collaborators who were renting the property.

The NDLEA has implemented several measures, such as whistleblowing, to combat the threat of drug use and consumption in Nigeria.

In Adazi Ani, Anambra State, on October 19, 2021, a child is accused of killing his father and stealing N50,000 so he could purchase Mkpuru mmiri. He was captured by neighborhood youngsters, knocked out, and then burned alive, DailyTimesNGR gathered.

A second person passed away in a nearby community as a result of Mkpuru mmiri’s incapacitating effects. On March 31st 2022 Reuben Bekweri, a professional methamphetamine chef (Mkpuru Mmiri), was taken into custody by NDLEA agents in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

The agency also detained six further members of the drug gang that was operating at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, as well as a fleeing drug lord.

In a statement, Femi Babafemi said that many new offensives against drug gangs had been launched around Nigeria prior to the arrest.

He pointed out that the 1, 584,000 tramadol tablets that were recovered on Tuesday, March 15 by NDLEA agents working with Aviation Security (AVSEC) and Customs service officers at the airport were being smuggled by the Lagos airport drug cartel.

17 cartons of 250 mg tramadol with the brand name “Tamra” and a gross weight of 669.70 kg and five cartons of 225 mg tramadol with a gross weight of 217.15 kg were among the items seized.

According to new research from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), 284 million people globally between the ages of 15 and 64 took drugs in 2020, which was a 26% rise over the preceding ten years.

According to the UNODC Nigeria Drug Use Survey, one in four of the 14.3 million drug users in the country during the study period were women or girls.

It confirmed that there were 11.2 million persons who used needles to inject drugs worldwide, and that roughly half of them had hepatitis C, 1.4 million had HIV, and 1.2 million had both of these diseases.
