NDIC summons AIB customers to approach zonal offices for title documents

The Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has called on customers or depositors of title documents with the African International Bank (AIB) in liquidation.
NDIC in a recent publication titled” Notice of title documents in the custody of African international bank limited (in-liquidation)” called upon any person, including debtors of AIB limited whose documents were tendered to the bank either as for safe keeping or as collateral, and as contained in the notice, to contact the liquidator for resolution and collection through the under listed addresses
The financial institution’s Insurer recalled that, the banking license of African International Bank Ltd AIB which has been closed, was revoked by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on the 2nd September, 2013.
It said that subject to withdrawal of banking license of AIB by the apex bank , NDIC applied Section 40 (1) of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation Act, 2006,and as the liquidator of the closed bank, commenced its winding up, which the Federal High Court on the 20th March, 2015 endorsed with issuance of the Order to wind up the closed Bank.
Management of NDIC stated in the recent call for title documents depositors to claim their tendered documents with the bank under liquidation, “In furtherance of the Liquidation activities, NOTICE is hereby given that the records of the defunct bank show that some persons deposited title documents whether as collateral for loans or for safe Keeping with the closed bank. Any person, including debtors of AIB Limited affected by this notice is required to contact the Liquidator for resolution and collection through the under listed addresses” NDIC assured.
The affected persons were advised by the liquidator’s reach any of their zonal offices in Lagos, Enugu, Benin, Yola, Sokoto, Bauchi, Ilorin, and Benin.
