NDE introduces new employment creation scheme . Set to test run in 19 states
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has taken to another job creation initiative, Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS), which it hopes will help reduce the unemployment rate ravaging the country.
The scheme, which will begin as a pilot-test, will commence in 19 states of the federation and the FCT, to enhance food production, employment and wealth creation.
The programme is an agricultural production and distribution system that seeks to provide more profitable farm income, promote environmental stewardship and enhance quality of life for farm families and communities.
This new NDE scheme would involve three approaches, which include: field training; trainee farmer’s mentorship and linkages with development and money deposit banks and identification of off-takers.
The states expected to benefit from the pilot phase are Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Gombe and Jigawa.
Others are Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Kwara, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Plateau, Taraba and the FCT.
The training will involve 30 unemployed graduates and school leavers from each of the benefiting states totalling 6001.
The official flag-off of this NDE training scheme will be performed in Katsina State next week.
