NDDC to partner CRSG over Bakassi Sea Port, Super Highway projects

Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has announced her intension to partner with the Cross River State government over Bakassi Seaport and Super Highway projects. The chairman of the commission, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, stated this in Calabar shortly after a courtesy visit on Governor Ben Ayade on Thursday

He said: “We are willing to partner with members States on project of their choice, you know the state government determined the priority of her project, but in Cross River State the choice of projects are very clear, the deep sea port and super highway.

“As a commission, we need to partner with the state on the access to the ports, we are going to work out the detail later, by next week or so, the managing director will sent a team to sit down with the state government to work out the details but we have agreed in principles to partner with government on the access to the deep sea port.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of anddc, Mr Nsima Ekere said that the deep seaport is a very major project that will positively impact on the socio-economic live of not just Calabar and Cross River State but the entire region.

“One of the thing we have identify as quick driver that will kick start the project is the access road and so we have agreed with the state government that we will go ahead and establish a team that will work together and get a design and immediately embark on the construction of a dualized road from Calabar to Bakassi deep seaport.

“Governor Ayade had already told us that the drawings have been made and we shall look at the drawings and to see if there are any additions or subtractions that we will have to make, whatever our consultants says and then we can set up a team to begin the work as soon as possible.
