NCR Nigeria Posts ₦196m Profit in 2025 as Overhead Drops Sharply
NCR Nigeria Plc has returned to profitability in 2025, posting a ₦196 million profit after tax compared to a ₦2.172 billion net loss in 2024, according to unaudited financial results released on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX).
Earnings per share stood at ₦1.82 kobo, making the ICT stock one of the top performers on the NGX in 2025.
Revenue from contracts with customers surged 43 per cent year on year to ₦3.081 billion, up from ₦2.149 billion in 2024. However, direct costs climbed 84.72 per cent year on year to ₦2.806 billion, compared to ₦1.519 billion in 2024.
This sharp rise in costs reduced gross profit to ₦275.6 million, a 56.3 per cent decline from the previous year, cutting gross margin to 8 per cent from 29 per cent.
Other income fell to ₦6.2 million from ₦60.6 million in 2024. Distribution costs dropped 60 per cent to ₦28.1 million, while administrative expenses plunged more than 97 per cent to ₦57.6 million, down from ₦2.782 billion a year earlier.
Despite the pressure on margins, NCR’s turnaround was driven largely by the drastic reduction in overhead costs, which allowed the company to return to profitability and deliver strong share price appreciation on the Nigerian Exchange.
Meanwhile, in Abuja, NHRC Executive Secretary Dr Tony Ojukwu, SAN, disclosed that the Commission received 3,724,822 complaints of human rights violations across Nigeria in 2025. The North Central region accounted for the highest share with 1.3 million cases, while Benue State led in violations of children’s rights.
Ojukwu said the Commission completed investigations into 52,489 complaints last year, stressing that systemic issues such as inequality, unemployment, weak institutions, and limited access to justice were driving violations. He pledged that in 2026, NHRC would strengthen early warning systems, deepen engagement with security agencies, and expand access to justice for women, children, and marginalised groups.
The United Nations, represented by Senior Human Rights Adviser Adwoa Kufuor, reaffirmed support for Nigeria’s human rights agenda, promising technical assistance, advocacy, and training.
