NCF enlightens children on renewable Energy

As part of efforts to celebrate the 2017 energy week, The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) and Skangix development Limited organised the finale of an essay competition with the theme ‘Energy-make it nature friendly’ for secondary schools within the Lagos State Education Board District III.
According to the Director General of NCF, Mr. Adeniyi Karunwi, the constant need to promote sustainable energy policy is suited for a well protected future.
“With limited resources, now is the time to promote sustainable energy policies which put human wellbeing and the environment first; we must balance our demand for energy with our rapidly shrinking resources. Our actions today would help protect our future”.
He further lamented the disregard for environmental protection and the need to encourage environmental conservation through impactful knowledge on children.
“It is in the realization we advocate the possibility of a Nigeria where people live in harmony with nature by encouraging environmental conservation, investments in clean and renewable energy and the achievement of the sustainable development goals while recognising the role of children in promoting the sustainability agenda”.
In similar note, the Managing Director of Skangix Development Limited, Sam Coker lauded the initiative of impacting in children and the level of commitment shown by the children towards expressing their level of understanding through out the phases of the competition.
“Their standard of performance in the essay topic seems to demonstrate and reflect the slow but steady growth and awareness of the society in the realization of the importance of this form of energy supply to us here in Nigeria, but more especially for the countries living within the tropics. Let’s applaud these youngsters for the brave and bold attempt”.
The essay competition was hosted among 99 students from 31 private and public schools within the Lagos State Education Board District III.
