Navy Warns Politicians against Violence
The Commander, Odekpe Naval Outpost, Captain Mike Oamen, on Wednesday, warned politicians and political thugs not to engage in electoral malpractice in the riverine communities of Anambra State.
Oamen told journalists in Onitsha that the Navy would be deploying more boats and personnel along the waterways to avert ballot box snatching and other forms of violence during Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections in country. The Naval boss disclosed that the special intelligence of the Navy, had made projections and needs for the election duty.
“We are getting our patrol boats ready and, hopefully, we are going to get a few more (boats), so that we can dominate the waterways and the adjoining land space. “We have, already, mapped out our strategies and, you know, this is a professional thing, as we are not going to leave any stone unturned in securing the Ogbaru waterways and other riverine communities of the state.
