National Karate Tourney Holds in June

The Nigeria Karate Federation (NKF) has concluded plans to hold its first National Karate Championship in June.

The President of the Federation, Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike told Extra Time that plans are in place to organise a national championship for the best Nigerian Karatakers in the month of June. Adding that the tournament will serve as selection ground for athletes for the All Africa Games billed to hold in September in Congo Brazzaville.

Ejidike who is also the Pillar of Sports in Nigeria hinted that the earlier postponed general election in Nigeria contributed to the late start of the federation’s programmes.

“Our first tournament will be the Japanese Ambassador Cup which is slated for June. Many others will follow suit; the camping for the All Africa Games will commence immediately after the Japanese Ambassador Cup,” he said.

The president revealed that the Technical Committee of the Federation will meet immediately after the Governorship and House of Assembly elections billed for April 11 to deliberate on the programmes of activities for this year and the camping site for the All Africa Games.
