Nasarawa, SDP, laud Buhari for declaring June 12 Democracy-Day

The leadership of Social Democratic Party (SDP), in Nasarawa state has lauded President Mohammadu Buhari for declaring June 12 as the new democracy-day in the country.
State Chairman of the Party, Danlami Musa, gave the commendation on Tuesday, during a rally in commemoration of the day in Lafia.
According to him, the SDP Presidential candidate during the June 12 election in 1993, Moshood Abiola, polled 8, 341, 309 in the states that the results was announced.
“Abiola got an overwhelming support across the country representing 58 percent of the total votes cast, despite running a Muslim/Muslim ticket,” he added.
Musa also commended the President’s decision to recognized Abiola and Babagana Kingibe with GCFR and GCON awards.
He added that SDP would repeat the feat its archived in 1993 come 2019 in the state and the country at large.
He expressed dismay over the recent Local Government election in Nasarawa State, describing it as “a complete fraud and a mockery to democracy,” he added.
He revealed that SDP did not accept the outcome of the LG election and would soon decide on the next line of action.
