Nasarawa oppose Plateau, Benue on restructuring

The Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has said the state, is not comfortable with the word restructuring, saying that the country has benefited from the presidential system and all that it need to do is to fine tune it and make it work better.

Al-Makura stated this Thursday in Jos, during the All Progressive Congress (APC), Committee on True Federalism on Zonal Public Consultation North Central Zone.

“We are comfortable with the Presidential system that has been in practice for over 40 years; the word restructuring is often misused, all we need is to fine tune the existing practice and make it better; some people think that restructuring is to create more state while some think it is to merge states, but the truth is that the presidential system remain the best practices”.

However, the Plateau and Benue states who were also at the forum, said restructuring is the way to go as it will address all the current agitations from all sides.
