Nasarawa Governor Slams Maku over Attack on Party Supporters

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has blamed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labaran Maku, for shooting two innocent persons in Lafia, the state capital. No fewer than two persons sustained various degrees of injuries from gunshot in Lafia, recently, by individuals suspected to be supporters of APGA. The trouble started when thugs in the convey of the former Minister of Information opened fire and injured certain people. The victims, at press time, were lying at the intensive care unit of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital.

 

Cautioning trouble makers and their sponsors to give peace a chance, Al-Makura reiterated that his aspiration was not to shed the blood of innocent people.

He also expressed displeasure with the intimidation of ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

 

 

Meanwhile, the governor candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Yusuf Agabi, has expressed shock over the increasing rate of criminality in the state, especially at the volatile Nasarawa South senatorial district and appealed to security chiefs in the state to arrest the ugly trend.

 

In another development, the police in the state have said that five persons were injured in Keana Local Government Area, following an outbreak of political skirmishes.
