Nasarawa Gets New Police Commissioner

The Nasarawa State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty by CP Umar Ahmed Chuso as the 30th Commissioner of Police in the State.
CP Chuso takes over from CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, who has been redeployed to the Police Staff College, Jos, as Deputy Commandant by the Inspector-General of Police.
In a statement issued on Thursday (December 11, 2025) in Lafia, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the new Commissioner brings “a wealth of operational experience, administrative competence, and a distinguished record of professional excellence” to the Command.
He appealed for the support and cooperation of residents, noting that effective policing requires strong partnership with communities across the state.
Originally from Sokoto South Local Government Area of Sokoto State, CP Chuso holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in June 1994 as a Cadet ASP after training at the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.
He has held several strategic positions within the Force, including Deputy Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos; Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Kano State; Deputy Commissioner of Police, CID, Kano; Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, Delta State; and Pioneer Area Commander of Argungu in Kebbi State.
He called on traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, religious bodies, and residents to strengthen collaboration with the police through timely and credible information to enhance crime prevention and rapid response.
