Nasarawa Education Commissioner charts new course ahead school resumption

 

 

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John D. W. Mamman, said the ministry has reviewed previous term challenges, and strategizing for improved outcomes in the upcoming academic session.

Dr. Mamam made this known during the 2025/2026 Second Term pre-resumption meeting with key stakeholders at the Ministry of Education Headquarters in Lafia.

He commended stakeholders in the education sector for their unwavering support and contributions toward improving the standard of education in the state.

“Education is not a one-man business, it requires collective effort and shared responsibility”.

“I sincerely appreciate your immense contributions and commitment to what I consider the most important industry—education.” Dr. Mamman stated

The meeting brought together representatives from the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC), Chief Evaluation Officers (CEOs), Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), Scholarship Board, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS).

Others were Association of Private School Owners of Nigeria (APSON), and All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS).

The meeting also featured a briefing by the AGILE State Project Coordinator, Hajiya Aishatu Aliyu Isoga, who highlighted the significant progress made under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project.

She noted that ongoing interventions include the drilling of boreholes, upgrading of school infrastructure, and the provision of WASH facilities across public secondary schools in the state.

Hajiya Isoga appealed to school principals and School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs)to take ownership of the projects and ensure that the facilities are properly utilized and maintained for the benefit of students.

The governor of Nasarawa, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, received commendations from the stakeholders for his consistent support for the education sector and the Education Ministry was praised for providing purposeful leadership.
