NAPTIP Urges Nigerians to Report Child Abuse in Daycare Centers

National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons has asked the public to report any cases of child sexual abuse and misconduct in daycare centers across Nigeria.

The agency made this call in a public notice posted on its official X account on Tuesday. The statement explained that the government is ready to investigate the recent claims of child abuse spreading on social media.

“Following recent public discussions and concerns raised regarding alleged incidents of child sexual abuse/misconduct in daycare settings in Nigeria, we are committed to thoroughly investigating credible reports,” the agency stated.

NAPTIP advised anyone with real evidence or direct knowledge of these incidents to contact them privately. The agency also encouraged victims and affected families to speak up to help the investigation.

“We kindly request anyone with factual information, evidence, direct knowledge, or who was personally affected by the matters referenced in the viral posts or related experiences to kindly reach out to us confidentially via DM or email us at info@naptip.gov.ng,” the statement read.

The public notice comes after widespread social media posts exposed alleged bad practices in some daycare environments.

The agency did not give specific details about the viral posts. However, the public call aligns with its official duty to protect children from sexual abuse and all forms of exploitation.
