The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has conferred a special honour on the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel, by appointing him as the Patron of its Zone B.
The investiture ceremony took place at the university during a one-day symposium and inter-school quiz competition organized by the Joint Campus Council, Edo State Axis of NANS. In his remarks, former National Vice President of NANS, Comrade Thomas Ikhine, described Prof. Samuel as “a unique leader and administrator with an engaging character” who has transformed the university into a peaceful and progressive institution.
The Coordinator of NANS, B Zone, Comrade Michael Iwara, also praised Prof. Samuel’s support for student engagement and his fatherly disposition towards student issues, which has brought relative peace to the university. In his acceptance speech, Prof. Samuel expressed gratitude to the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) for the honour. “It’s heartwarming to know that our efforts are being noticed. I’m humbled to receive this recognition,” he said.
He attributed the university’s progress to divine intervention and the cooperation of staff and students. He noted that his administration took over at a tumultuous time but has made significant strides in turning things around.
The Acting VC assured the students that he would continue to prioritize their welfare as a father figure, work collaboratively with staff and serve the state government’s interests in growing the university. “I will do my best to ensure the continued growth and development of our dear University,” the acting VC pledged.
