NAFOWA trains 165 youths and women in Bauchi on various skills acquisition

As part of its effort to reduce the rate of unemployment in the country, the Nigerian Air Force Officer’s Wives Associations (NAFOWA), Skills Acquisition and Vocational Training Programme, NAF Base Bauchi has graduated about 165 women and youths who went through training on various skills acquisition embarked upon by the association.

The ‎National President of the Association Hajiya Hafsat Saddique Abubakar disclosed this on Monday at the graduation ceremony to mark the end of 10 weeks training session of the trainees in Bauchi.

“Today’s graduation of 165 students at NAF Base Bauchi brings to a fulfilling end a mission that started about ten weeks ago.”
“There is really an urgent need to fill the unemployment and under employment gap amongst our youths and women living within our barracks and our host communities”, she said.

She further said, “there is also the need to cater for widows and orphans who have lost their breadwinners in the campaign against insurgency in the North Eastern part of our country”.
Hajiya Hafsat explained that the participants made up of 85 women and 80 youths have been engaged in different skills such as Computer Training, Tailoring and Fashion Design, Catering and Confectioneries, Interior Decoration.

Others she said include Bead Making, Hairdressing, Leather Shoe and Bag Fabrication, Make up Artistry, Aluminium Windows and Doors Fabrication, Pot Making and Liquid Soap and Cosmetics production.”

‎She pointed out that NAFOWA also donated starter packs such as Brand new sewing machines, HP Laptop, Baking Ovens, Hairdryers, Make up Kits, Bead Making Kits, Aluminium Cutting Machines, Leather Filling Machines and Soap Making Kits, these she said was to enable them kick start their own businesses.

‎In her remarks the special guest of honour wife of Bauchi state governor Hajiya Hadiaza Abubakar,commended the initiative of NAFOWA for empowering women and youth in the neighborhood communities of the state.

She said, this will go a long way ‎in reducing the unemployment rate in the state, as well as reducing social vices within the communities.
The wife of the governor assured of her total support to any initiative that will create jobs and enterprenureship development in the state.
