NAFOWA empowers 100 youths, widows in skills acquisition in Niger
The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA), says it has empowered another batch of 100 youths and widows of deceased personnel through its Skills Acquisition and Vocational Training Programme, in Kainji, Niger.
Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, made this known in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
Daramola said that the closing ceremony, which took place at the NAF Base Kainji, witnessed the presentation of certificates and provision of starter packs to the 100 beneficiaries who completed the 10-week training.
He said that during the ceremony, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, noted that skills acquisition and vocational training were means to ensure financial independence, self reliance, prosperity and personal development.
Abubakar stated that the empowerment of the youths and widows would make the home stable and enhance the commitment of personnel to the discharge of their duties.
He said the graduating students were now better positioned to start their own businesses and could, hopefully, become job creators.
The air chief commended NAFOWA for the successful completion of the laudable programme, which, he said, was also in tandem with the Federal Government’s efforts at reducing unemployment among the country’s teeming youths.
The air chief was represented by AVM Oladayo Amao, the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command.
