NAFDAC tasks sachet water producers in Jigawa on quality

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has urged producers of sachet water in Jigawa to comply with standard and produce safe drinking water for consumers.

The State Coordinator, NAFDAC, Mr Olakunle Olaniran gave the advice at a meeting with officials of Association of Table Water Producers (ATWAP) in the state.

Olaniran explained that his agency in the state would not tolerate production of unsafe or untreated water that would not be in compliance with regulations of NAFDAC.

The coordinator enjoined executives of ATWAP to work with NAFDAC to fish out those who were not registered with the agency that were involved in the production of unsafe and untreated water for the masses.

Olaniran stated that the agency was always willing to collaborate with sachet water producers to train their staff for quality production.

The state Chairman of ATWAP, Alhaji Umar Baba-Yaro said his association was into partnership with Hisbah and Consumer Protection Council to fish out the “bad eggs” among them.

Baba-Yaro also assured that his leadership would make sure that people in the state get quality, safe and clean drinking water. (NAN)
