NAF trains flight nurses, aircrew for Aeromedical evacuation

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola in a statement on Friday in Abuja, said NAF has trained another batch of flight nurses and aircrew for the aeromedical evacuation of critical patients.

Daramola said it was in continuation of efforts to further boost the capacity of personnel for the effective and efficient conduct of Aeromedical Evacuation missions.

According to him, the mission is to airlift wounded soldiers from various theatres of operation and other critical patients to appropriate treatment facilities.

He said the graduation of the 20 nurses and four loadmasters took place on Friday at the NAF Base, Kaduna, after two weeks of intensive training.

Daramola said that the training involved theoretical and practical sessions at the NAF School of Medical Sciences and Aviation Medicine (NAFSMSAM), Kaduna and simulation using the C-130H aircraft, configured for Aeromedical Evacuation.

He said that specific areas covered during the two-week training include; Aerospace Physiology, Crew Resource Management, Aircrew Complements and Duties.

Others are, Enplaning and Deplaning Procedures, Infection Control in Aviation, In-flight Patients Care and Aviation Safety.

The NAF spokesperson also said that graduation ceremony featured demonstration where participants and crew of the force C-130H aircraft simulated the care and management of in-flight patients.
